Service

Phi Gamma Delta Service

Service is one of the five values Phi Gamma Delta. Serving the community through volunteer opportunities on and off campus allows brothers to give back to the University Community providing them their education. We believe that our dedication to community service and philanthropic endeavors will lead to the betterment of each brother as an individual and the chapter reputation as a whole.

Community Service
Each brother and pledge is required to engage in a minimum of 15 hours of community service per semester. Many brothers participate in routine service activities and donate far more than the minimum amount of time. For the Spring of 2015, Mu Deuteron has donated over 620 hours of their time to the surrounding Iowa City and University of Iowa communities thus far.

Philanthropy: USO
Millions of times each year at thousands of locations around the world, the USO lifts the spirits of America’s troops and their families. A nonprofit, congressionally chartered, private organization, the USO relies on the generosity of individuals, organizations and corporations to support its activities. Phi Gamma Delta has formed a partnership with the USO giving chapters the opportunity to support its efforts through philanthropic (fundraising) events as well as service opportunities at nearby centers. Between a fall 2015 Rivalry Run that stretched from Madison, Wisconsin to Iowa City, Iowa and the return of Fiji Islander in 2015, Mu Deuteron has raised over $15,000.

Every year the Iowa chapter of Phi Gamma Delta
gives out over $5,000 to outstanding young men
who embody our 5 values.
